SYIL USA presents the L2 Siemens with live tooling at IMTS

At IMTS, SYIL USA director Wesley Wang introduced the newest SYIL L2 with Siemens SINUMERIK 828D control (290.5 PPU / version 5 hardware). The compact lathe is now also available with live tooling.

In the presentation, Wesley walks through what makes the L2 a practical shop-floor machine: a 12-position turret, a 4,000 rpm spindle, and the familiar Siemens 828 interface. Live tooling is the headline addition. It lets shops mill and drill on the same setup instead of moving parts between machines.

To show what that looks like in practice, the video cuts inside the work envelope as coolant flies and the turret machines a part. Wesley then holds up a small golf tee made on the L2, with names engraved by Siemens as a demo piece.

The machine is three-phase only.
